At 8.00pm on Wednesday 14th November 1951, eighteen residents of the township of Albion Park gathered at the local Council Chambers determined to turn a dream into reality.
At what was to become this Club's Inaugural Meeting, the following motion was duly moved and carried; "That a Bowling Club be formed and that those present become the Foundation Members"
After acquiring six blocks of land in Taylor Road, the first Bowling Green was built during 1952/53 for seventy pounds and was considered to be the equal of any in the District.
The first Club House, constructed in 1953 for the princely sum of eighty pounds was a corrugated iron dwelling that became affectionately known to all and sundry as the "Old Tin Shed"
As the town continued to grow, so to did the Bowling Club and it was subsequently granted its Liquor Licence in September 1959.
The construction of a new brick clubhouse followed and this was officially opened on the 2nd April 1967 with the Club being registered as a Company on the 29th September 1978.
On the 17th November 1979, extensions to the Eastern end of the Clubhouse featuring a large Club Auditorium, new Kitchen and Toilet facilities were officially opened.
Additional extensions to the Western end of the Club during 1995/96 including the general refurbishing of the Club throughout, saw the opening of a new state of the art kitchen and the "Mountain View Restaurant" on the 13th October 1996.
The completion of a major extension/expansion development program in 2003 which was officially opened on the 25th January 2004, now sees the Albion Park Bowling & Recreation Club rank amongst the best on the South Coast.
The Club can now fortunately lay claim to having:-
